Glenda Rose Irving, 66 of Truro formerly of Kemptown, passed
away unexpectedly Saturday May 15, 2021 at the Colchester East Hants
Health Centre in Truro. Born in Kemptown, she was the daughter of the
late David and Vesta (Perrin) Irving.
She is survived by her loving sister Helen Johnson (Aurora,
Ont), sister-in law Marie Irving (Truro, NS), Diane Irving (Kingston,
Ont) and brother-in-law Gary "Gable" Roode (Anne Marie),
(Riverview, NB) as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and
friends.
Glenda was predeceased by sisters Ruby, Beulah, twin sister
Linda and brothers Raymond, Warren, John and Alton.
Glenda was affectionately known as Glenny by her loving
family. Glenny loved life and meeting new people. She was not shy and
made friends wherever she went. She made many new friends by simply
walking up to you and saying "Hello" with a big smile on her
face (which automatically put a smile on your face). The next time she
saw you she may not remember your name, but she never forgot a face
and would introduce herself by saying "I know
you".
Glenda loved many things including knitting, word search
puzzles, parties, dancing, her jewelry, getting her nails done,
wrestling shows, bowling, going to Camp Tignish, reminding you that
her birthday was coming up, catching a nap whenever there was any kind
of housework to be done, and spending time with her
family.
Glenda was involved in many activities, but was especially
proud of her time with the Special Olympics and loved to show you her
many ribbons. She attended the Kemptown School and the Butler Center
in Truro where she met many lifelong friends. She worked at the
Colchester Community Workshop for many years and retired in April
2016. After her retirement, she attended the VON Day
Program.
Glenda’s happiness and love of life was infectious.
She showed her family and friends that it was ok to be yourself and to
find happiness in the little things. She will be greatly missed by all
and family gatherings will have a little less sparkle without her
beautiful smile.
Thank you to Glenda’s caregivers at the Colchester
Community Group Home Shelley, Darlene, Samantha, Sara, Margie, Kelly
and Donna.
A special thank you to the nurses and doctors that attended
to Glenda on Friday evening, the kindness, tenderness and loving care
you gave her during this difficult time will never be
forgotten.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
