David Graham Dickie – 69, Truro, passed
away peacefully on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Colchester East
Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Brampton, Ontario, he was a son of
the late Peter and Anna (Whidden) Dickie.
David spent most of his life on the family farm in Onslow,
Glooscap Dairy Farm, which he later owned and operated alongside his
wife, Karen. He also worked for Dexter’s and Kewit
Blueberries and Palaton. David was a person who enjoyed people and was
always happy to have company. He especially loved riding his Harley
and going on road trips with friends. He had a passion for the
Military and its history, and he had the pleasure of visiting the tank
Museum in England. David also made trips down south and British
Columbia, and enjoyed spending time in Brule.
He was a keen supporter of West Colchester Minor Hockey
Association, first as a hockey Dad of his sons Jason and Matthew and
then as a manager of one of their hockey teams; he also served a term
as President of West Colchester Minor Hockey
Association.
David is survived by his wife of 47 years, Karen (McCallum);
son, Jason (Marissa Ma) Dickie, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Rebecca
Dickie, Dartmouth; Ethan Dickie, Bible Hill; brother, Tony Dickie,
East Mountain. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his son,
Matthew.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where David’s
family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, January 13, 2023.
Private interment at a later date in Onslow Island Cemetery. If so
desired, donations in David’s memory to a charity of choice
